As a mother of four and an award-winning actress, Kidman knows how busy life can be, which is why she does most of her skincare routine at night. “If at night time you do most of the work, you can wake up and you can be pretty quick because, let’s face it, I mean most of us are rushing in the morning,” she says. “I don’t know that many people who have an enormous amount of time—if you want to get a workout in, plus take care of your kids, plus get them to school, plus get to work—all of those things, there’s very little time to be doing some half hour skincare routine.”
Instead, Kidman starts her regime every night by removing her makeup using Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes ($13), which she also keeps in her bag for touch ups between projects and promotional events. She then applies her favorite product from Neutrogena, the Deep Moisture Night Cream ($12) that contains retinol and helps dry her skin. On some occasions, she uses The Moisturizing Soft Cream from La Mer ($170) or Eucerin’s Aquaphor Cream ($14) when she needs extra moisture. In the morning, she uses the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Cream ($25) and applies the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen in SPF 100 ($13) or the Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Sunscreen ($7) to protect her skin from the sun.
“At night, I always take off my makeup. I got that from my mom,” Kidman says of her beauty routine. “I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover wipes because it’s easy. I’m not a high maintenance person. I believe in retinol, I do think it works. It’s been scientifically proven, so Neutrogena’s Rapid Wrinkle Repair Regenerating Cream is good for me because I'm sensitive and can become red if I use something too strong that’s not balanced.”
FOUNDATION, BRONZER & BLUSH

|Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Powder Bronzer ($13)||Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Rosy ($13)|
Between her fair skin and need to keep things simple, Kidman doesn’t like to wear heavy foundation and says her makeup artists usually use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Natural Ivory ($14) or Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation ($44) for flawless coverage before she walks down the red carpet at events like the 2018 Oscars. After applying the sheer foundation, her makeup artist uses the Charlotte Tilbury Powder and Sculpt Brush to apply the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish ($45). The brand’s Film Star Bronze and Glow ($68) or Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Blends Powder Bronzer ($13) give Kidman a healthy glow. For a pop of color on her cheeks, Kidman likes to use the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Rosy ($13), which is a staple for her both on and off the red carpet.
“I don’t like a lot of makeup because I just don’t like feeling like I’ve got a mask on,” Kidman says of her minimal makeup routine outside of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. “I like actually just being able to feel that my skin can be seen and also don’t like wearing huge amounts of eye makeup and I’m very much about the quickest way to do things.”

|Neutrogena Eye Makeup Essentials Set ($10)||Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Liner ($8)|
|Neutrogena Hydro Boost Plumping Mascara ($10)||Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara ($9)|
Despite keeping it simple when she’s at home with Urban and their kids, Kidman lets her makeup artists run wild when she’s walking the red carpet. The team usually outlines and defines her brows using the Neutrogena Nourishing Brow Pencil ($9) and went a different route at the 2018 Oscars thanks to Kidman’s blue dress doing wonders to bring out her already gorgeous eyes! Keeping her eye makeup minimal so as not to detract from her dress, Kidman’s team kept a neutral palette using Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Primer ($10) and the Neutrogena Eye Makeup Essentials Set ($10). They used the Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Liner ($8) to outline her eyes and added multiple coats of Kidman’s two favorite mascaras—the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Plumping Mascara ($10) and the Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara ($9).
|Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Shine ($10)||Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment ($10)|
|Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick ($9)||Neutrogena Revitalizing Lip Balm SPF 20 ($9)|
Typically using Neutrogena’s Revitalizing Lip Balm SPF 20 ($9) to keep her lips hydrated, Kidman opted for a bold red lip to complement her stunning blue gown at the Oscars this year. She conditioned her lips with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment ($10) and then created the perfect shade using hues from the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Shine ($10) and the Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick ($9) that created the perfect pout for her red carpet walk!

“My big thing is that if my skin is taken care of, I can just wear a light blush as long as I’ve got a glossy lip and curled eyelashes, I’m okay.” As one of the world’s top beauty muses thanks to her natural beauty that extends from stunning makeup moments and fashion trends to a “less is more” look, the 50-year-old Kidman starts by taking care of her skin from the inside out. “I really believe in taking vitamins and supporting my skin with inside health,” she told Allure magazine. “Besides that, I meditate and stay out of the sun. I’ll eat anything. I’m pretty normal when it comes to that, but I also like to exercise.”
Outside of vitamins and keeping her makeup routine fairly simple, Kidman has found herself as an advocate for aging in Hollywood but, as someone who never really wanted that kind of attention, thinks anti-aging initiatives are ridiculous. “I think the focus on age is ridiculous now because everyone keeps saying 40 is the new 30, 50 is the new 40, all of those,” she says. “Well, hold on, just be. It’s that simple. I think once you take labels and numbers away and you just let women be—and men, because they’re in the same boat—defining yourself is a much better way of doing it. You know, women are having children so much later now. Everything is shifting, so I think the message is taking it off numbers.”
Adding that the gift of acting allows her to shift ages and characters, Kidman says beauty and age should be individualized. “I try to blur the lines by playing different characters of all different ages,” she says. “I think that’s the most important thing. With the blurring of that, one minute, I’m in Big Little Lies playing Celeste and the next I’m playing in Top of the Lake. I’m in a completely different character with the long gray hair. Then, I’m in Lion playing her when she’s young and when she’s older. It’s fantastic to be able to move around, which I think is what everyone wants anyway.” Fortunately, Kidman is a position to shift around and be anyone she wants to be while still remaining the stunning beauty we all know and love!
