After her service, she enrolled at IDC Herzliya college where she studied law and international relations before launching her career as a model for brands like Gucci, Captain Morgan, Huawei, and Jaguar Cars. Eventually making her way to Hollywood, she starred in The Fast & The Furious franchise and, after performing her own stunt work, made an incredible name for herself that landed her the part of Wonder Woman in some of today’s most popular superhero flicks. So, when she’s not saving the world alongside fellow DC superheroes like Batman and Superman, how does the 33-year-old actress recreate her glamourous old-Hollywood look like the one we saw at the 2018 Oscars?

At the heart of Gadot’s daily makeup routine is a line of skincare products that she can trust, which is where Chanel’s Hydra line comes to the rescue. Gadot’s makeup artist, Sarah Brock, is responsible for many of the actress’s glamourous looks from the red carpet to the set of Wonder Woman and, regardless of the location or event, always starts with Chanel Hydra Beauty Micro Serum ($110), which is a lightweight and water-like formula that refines, moisturizes, and prepares the skin for other products. Brock then applies the Chanel Hydra Gel Yeux ($68), which is a smoothing formula that boost’s the skin’s radiance while moisturizing, comforting, and protecting Gadot’s flawless complexion. She finishes the skincare routine with the Chanel Hydra Beauty Crème ($87), which is best dabbed across the face and then smoothed in from the center outward to ensure an instant glow.
FOUNDATION, BRONZER & BLUSH
|Smashbox Photo Finish Primer ($16)||Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in Shade 7 ($64)|
|Chanel Vitalumiere in Shade 30 or 40 ($60)||Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light to Medium Bisque ($28)|
|Bare Minerals Complete Coverage Serum Concealer ($21)||Estee Lauder Double Wear High Coverage Concealer ($28)|
|Daniel Sandler Invisible Blotting Powder ($27)||Smashbox LA Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Color ($29)|
|Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate in Intensity 2 ($82)||Tom Ford Bronzer in Bronze Age ($110)|
|Armani Fluid Sheer Highlighter in Shade 1 ($62)||Stila Convertible Color Dual Lip & Cheek Cream in Lillium ($25)|
To create a flawless foundation, Gadot takes Brock’s advice and creates a second skin with silky products to prevent her foundation from looking too heavy. “The biggest mistake women make is that they think that the way to get a flawless complexion is to pile on a thick layer of foundation to cover all of their imperfections—but that’s when makeup looks heavy and cakey,” Brock says. “I apply a light foundation base and then go in with concealers and correctors after to add more coverage where needed.”
After moisturizing, Brock preps Gadot’s face using Smashbox Photo Finish Primer ($16). She then uses one of two foundations—Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in Shade 7 ($64) or Chanel Vitalumiere in Shade 30 or 40 ($60). Using her fingers to apply and blend the foundation, Brock then adds Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light to Medium Bisque ($28), Bare Minerals Complete Coverage Serum Concealer in Medium Golden ($21), and Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place High Coverage Concealer ($28) for additional coverage.
To add definition, Brock uses Smashbox LA Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Color in Venice Bronze Beach ($29) and Tom Ford Bronzer in Bronze Age ($110) to contour. For added depth, she applies Tom Ford Shade & Illuminate in Intensity 2 ($82) and highlights the top of Gadot’s cheekbones using Armani Fluid Sheer Highlighter in Shade 1 ($62). For a pop of color, she applies Stila Convertible Color Dual Lip & Cheek Cream in Lillium ($25) from the top of Gadot’s cheekbones to the apples of her cheeks. She then set the entire look with a light dusting of Daniel Sandler’s Invisible Blotting Powder ($27).
“I used small amounts of several different products, which I applied with my fingers and then blended well so that they didn’t ‘sit’ on the skin—they ‘became’ part of her skin,” Brock said of her technique. “I apply cream bronzers and blush after foundation and then I’d add fine powder formulas at the end of the makeup if I wanted more definition.”
|Beautiful Brows Powder in Dark Brown ($23)||Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel ($22)|
|Shiseido Shimmering Eye Color in BR306 Leather ($25)||Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Ivory ($30)|
|Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Pencil in Espresso ($22.50)||NARS Eye Paint in Black Valley ($26)|
|IT Cosmetics Tightline Mascara ($24)||Chanel Inmitable Waterproof Mascara in Black ($32)|
|Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara ($6)|
Although Brock likes to use cream-based products to create Gadot’s flawless foundation, she veers away from creams when it comes to enhancing Gadot’s sultry eyes. Starting with the brows, Brock defines Gadot’s eyebrows using Beautiful Brows Powder in Dark Brown ($23) and then sets the powder using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel ($22).
Brock layers Shiseido Shimmering Eye Color in BR306 Leather ($26) to create Gadot’s smoky eye and blends using the Chanel Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Ivory ($30). She applies Elizabeth Arden Smoky Eyes Pencil in Espresso ($22.50) or the NARS Eye Paint in Black Valley ($26) to outline the eyes. To finish the look, Brock likes to use a few layers of mascara and alternates between Gadot’s favorites—IT Cosmetics Tightline Mascara ($24) and Chanel Inmitable Waterproof Mascara in Black ($32) because, let’s face it, a superhero can’t have her mascara running when she’s busy saving the world!
|Revlon ColorStay Lipstick ($8)||Chanel Rouge Coco Baume ($37)|
|Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick ($5)||Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick ($30)|
Gadot’s lips are the easiest part of her entire look with many of Gadot’s fans now rushing out to buy her best-kept lip secret—the Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick ($30). “It’s primarily a lip treatment that mimics the natural, rosy color of your lips,” Brock says of the product. After Gadot’s lips are hydrated, she alternates between her favorites shades of Revlon Color Stay Lipstick ($8) and the Chanel Rouge Coco Baume ($37).
“The first time I really started to understand the value and really understand makeup was when I started modeling.” Although Gadot didn’t exactly play with makeup as a child, she’s grown to love trying new products and even shares that passion with her daughter, Alma. “She loves to play with it—she loves to put makeup on me, she loves to put makeup on herself, and just play with it and feel like she’s an adult while trying to walk in my high heels,” Gadot says. “I must confess that when I was a young girl I never did that. I was a tomboy.”
Still sharing some tomboy tendencies, Gadot keeps her daily makeup routine simple and says she avoids wearing too much makeup and, instead, embraces her natural beauty. “I’m a working mother, so I do like to cover darkness around my eyes, and when I go out, to wear bold lips and mascara,” she says. Of course, as a spokesmodel for Revlon, she turns to products like the Super Lustrous Lipstick in Red and the Mega Multiplier Mascara for last-minute touch ups.
As an outspoken feminist and one of the most influential people in the world, the 33-year-old Gadot also believes that there’s a special place for makeup in feminism. “Feminism is not about hating men or burning bras or fighting anymore,” Gadot says. “Anything that makes you feel more confident, more beautiful, and better about yourself has to do with feminism.” That certainly puts makeup in the circle of feminism, at least for our favorite Wonder Woman!
